CULTURAL HOMESTAY INTERNATIONAL (CHI) AU PAIR COORDINATOR (APC) JOB DESCRIPTION
The APC is an independent contractor and is the first point of contact with the Host Family and Au Pair participants. APC’s are responsible for the promotion and recruitment of Host Families in their region. APC’s interview potential Host Families to evaluate whether or not they are appropriate participants for the program. APC’s are also responsible for supporting Host Families and Au Pairs in a designated community and ensuring the adherence to program regulations established by the U.S. Department of State. The APC is supervised by the Regional Au Pair Coordinator.


Specific responsibilities for the Au Pair Coordinator include the following:

• Recruit potential host families through local advertising, other promotion and responding to inquiry calls
• Interview in person all host family applicants to evaluate appropriateness
• Conduct an orientation for each host family either individually or in a group
• Make arrangements for the au pair to be met upon arrival, either by the host family or APC
• Contact the au pair and host family within 24 hours of arrival
• Meet in person with the host family and au pair within two weeks after arrival
• Supplement the Au pair Orientation program if the Au Pair missed any portion of the formal orientation training
• Be the liaison between the host family, au pair and CHI
• Plan and implement monthly meetings with the au pairs and phone contact with host families
• Ensure that the au pair fulfills the educational requirements of the program
• Be available to the au pair and host family for counseling and support during the au pair program
• Plan and coordinate an annual Family Day event
• Ensure that all required program forms and reports are submitted to CHI on time
• Ensure adherence to all program regulations established by the Department of State

Compensation: The APC is a part-time, non-salaried position in which the compensation is based on the number of host families recruited in the APC’s region.
